Sailor was established in 1911 by Kyugoro Sakata, becoming Japan’s first fountain pen company. Since then Sailor has achieved many firsts within Japan and the world such as developing the first Japanese ballpoint pen in 1948 and coining the word “cartridge.” They have also received the honor of being visited by Imperial Prince Hirohito in 1926. - The Shikiori series beautifully captures the essence of Japan's four seasons. This new collection is themed "Noyama-no-Uta," which translates to Songs of the Mountains, and is inspired by the various birds that appear throughout the 72 micro-seasons of the ancient Japanese calendar, with the designs "reminiscent of the chirping of birds echoing deep in the mountains. The autumn model, Sekirei (Wagtail’s Call), is inspired by the Wagtail's call reverberating across clear skies by the lakeside, showcasing a sleek, deep black body completed with a distinctive translucent gray cap top.
