Sailor Pro Gear Fountain Pen - SAILOR x KAMAWANU - Tsurumaru-ume
Sailor was established in 1911 by Kyugoro Sakata, becoming Japan’s first fountain pen company. Since then Sailor has achieved many firsts within Japan and the world such as developing the first Japanese ballpoint pen in 1948 and coining the word “cartridge.” They have also received the honor of being visited by Imperial Prince Hirohito in 1926. Now, Sailor is well known for their beautiful, high-quality resin Pro Gear fountain pens and multiple ink series that are enjoyed by enthusiasts at various stages of the fountain pen hobby.
Introducing an exquisite new limited release: the SAILOR x KAMAWANU Pro Gear Standard fountain pen collection. Born from the theme of "Cherishing Everyday Life," this collaboration brings together Sailor’s celebrated Japanese pen craftsmanship and the heritage textile artistry of Kamawanu. Kamawanu is renowned for its traditional hand-dyed tenugui—versatile Japanese cotton cloths that, much like a fine fountain pen, grow richer in character the more they are used.
The SAILOR x KAMAWANU collection arrives in two distinct, symbol-rich colorways accented with IP gold trim. Tsurumaru-ume features a clean, warm ivory body adorned with vivid red motifs combining cranes and plum blossoms—traditional emblems representing longevity, peace, and harmony. Fugu-tatewaku is finished in a rich, deep indigo blue patterned with white pufferfish and rising bubble streams inspired by the classic tatewaku pattern, a motif historically celebrated for bringing good fortune. Each pen is accompanied by a matching, authentic Kamawanu tenugui dyed in the exact same heritage pattern.
