2027 Hobonichi Techo English Weeks - V&A Series: Welcome to the V&A
Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.
This is a collaboration with the V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum, London). From fashion and sculpture to Queen Victoria’s coronet and a cup of tea in the V&A Café, this design celebrates the museum’s diverse collections and a memorable day spent at the V&A. The sturdy yet supple hardcover is wrapped in a high-quality necktie fabric. The cover has been constructed as a light hardcover book with some give to it so it still bends.
