Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

This is the first collaboration cover created with tanakadaisuke, a brand by embroidery artist Daisuke Tanaka. Drawing inspiration from the brand's bags adorned with lace handkerchiefs, this luxurious velvet cover features sparkling, hand-embroidered bijoux sewn on one by one. It comes with a dedicated drawstring bag.
