Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

A5 HON in English Features:

A cover inspired by Virginia Lee Burton’s famous picture book "The Little House". The front cover is designed with the striking, clear sky blue from the cover of the picture book. The handwritten letters and gentle brushstrokes add to the charm. Inspired by the hardcover of the original book, a slight lustre has been applied to this techo.
