Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.
This Weeks book features Mr. Saturn from the MOTHER (EarthBound) series, expressed through the weave of a necktie fabric. Set against a soft apricot background that matches Mr. Saturn's complexion, this cover is scattered with his face and trademark red ribbon. It is a playful design where you will feel like you are always making eye contact with Mr. Saturn! The cover has been constructed as a light hardcover book with some give to it so it still bends.
