Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

This ballpoint pen features Yumi Kitagishi’s character White Cat on the clicker. The white cat doll looks like it popped straight out of an illustration—full of charm and cuteness. The pen barrel is engraved with Yumi Kitagishi’s logo and name, along with the word “HOBONICHI.”
