Sailor was established in 1911 by Kyugoro Sakata, becoming Japan’s first fountain pen company. Since then Sailor has achieved many firsts within Japan and the world such as developing the first Japanese ballpoint pen in 1948 and coining the word “cartridge.” They have also received the honor of being visited by Imperial Prince Hirohito in 1926. This collection is a beautiful homage to the peaceful and intricate art of "Cha-no-yu," a centuries-old tradition that embodies deep spirituality and aesthetics. Matcha powder is a central element of the tea ceremony, and the original color of the pens is inspired by the deep, rich hue of Koicha, a thick green tea made with a generous amount of matcha. The pens have a translucent yellow-green cap top, a transparent green body, dark green cap, and gold-plated trim.
