Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

This Weeks book was born from a collaboration with the digital handheld pet, Tamagotchi. The digital handheld pets that appear in the first generation Tamagotchi and New Species Discovered!! Tamagotchi are depicted in pixel art with this necktie weave. They are all lined up in striking poses, and just looking at them lets you imagine their next move.
