2025 Hobonichi Techo Japanese Weeks April Start - Naoki Ishikawa: Denali in the Midnight Sun #1
Hobonichi started as a lifestyle website “Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun,” [Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper] in 1998 featuring “almost-daily” essays by founder and editor-in-chief, Shigesato Itoi, who is well known for other ventures including game design and songwriting. In 2001, the Hobonichi Techo [planner] was launched after positive response from readers when asked if they would purchase a techo by the brand if developed. Since then, the Hobonichi lineup has grown from 1 to 7 types, with some being available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and has sold over 10 million copies over the world.

This cover features a photograph of Denali, North America's largest mountain, as taken by Naoki Ishikawa. Cyanotype is a photographic process that involves a chemical solution and exposure to UV light. The appeal in this design comes from the brush marks that let you see where the solution was applied.
