June 25: Intro to Modern Embroidery with Nutmeg & Honeybee

Workshop Description:

Join Meg Rosko, of Nutmeg & Honeybee, as we learn to create a modern embroidery hoop. This class is designed for all skill levels and will include two options for creating a design. The first option is for students who feel comfortable enough to draw on a blank canvas and create their own design. The second option will allow students to receive a pre-drawn embroidery hoop from Meg so that they can focus on the stitches rather than the design.

In this 3-hour class, students can expect to learn about satin stitches, french knots, turkey stitches, working with rope and yarn, and learning how to add beads to their hoop. Students will choose their own color palette at the beginning of class and any materials that they use during the workshop will be included in their take-home kit. As attendees will not have the chance to finish their embroidery hoop during class, Meg urges all students to ask as many questions as possible and take videos of the stitches needed to complete at home. Modern embroidery is an art form that allows for a lot of mindful stitching and connecting with other attendees, so it’s the perfect class for anyone looking for a little creative break.

  • MASKS ARE OPTIONAL: We will follow county guidelines for the mask policy in effect at the time of the workshop. 
    • Currently per Orange County guidelines following the CA Dept. of Public Health, masks are required for unvaccinated individuals in indoor public settings and businesses. 
    • Masks are optional for vaccinated individuals.
    • Proof of vaccination for attendees is not required.
    • The above guidelines apply to both instructors and workshop attendees.
  • If you register for the workshop, but are in any the following situations, please request to be moved to a future workshop:
    • If you have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 48 hours prior to the workshop date - fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea)
    • If you are isolating or quarantining because you have been exposed to a person with COVID-19, are sick with COVID-19, or have symptoms consistent with COVID-19
    • If you are currently waiting on the results of a COVID-19 test

You do not need to bring anything else to the workshop, just yourself! The registration cost is all-inclusive of materials needed for this experience!
