In this class, we will learn the basics of weaving on a frame loom—from start to finish. Students will be guided through how to set up and warp their loom, how to apply different plain-weave techniques, and how to finish and hang their piece. This class will not only cover the basics of weaving, but it will also be an introduction to seeing and thinking as a creative person. Together we will talk about how to draw inspiration from daily life and how to implement that inspiration into woven pieces. We will be working through our pieces together, however each student will be given the opportunity to design and sketch their own basic piece to make (or there will also be simple-yet-beautiful patterns provided, if preferred). At the end of the class, students will be able to keep their loom, their weaving tools, and their instruction booklet so that they can continue weaving at home!
